Peer Group specialises in property investment, development and management in the office, retail, industrial and residential sectors. Our £200m portfolio comprises assets in all regions and sectors and includes the Ongar Park Estate.
Since the early 1990s Peer Group has owned the freehold of the 500-acre Ongar Park Estate lying to the East of North Weald Bassett. The estate ownership includes Blakes Golf Club and the historic Redoubt. In partnership with Epping Forest District Council, we delivered the highly successfully 70- home Tempest Mead development in the late 1990s, which remains one of the most sought-after residential locations in North Weald Bassett. As part of the planning agreement, Peer Group gifted land to create Weald Common and Nature Reserve, as well as giving land to the Bowls Club and further land to assist with flood alleviation for the village.
As a non agricultural, previously developed site, the small area of Ongar Park Estate to the east of the village which Peer Group is advancing provides a positive and more sustainable alternative to the development of prime agricultural land to the west of North Weald Bassett.
Much of the Ongar Park Estate was used intensively over the past century as a radio station and transmitter site. Many of the concrete foundations from the aerials are still place.
